Sen Augere, Director/Producer

Augere holds an MFA in Theater from Sarah Lawrence College, trained in acting at Guildford School of Acting, England completing a Post Graduate Degree and trained in Dance at the renowned Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London (with Bonnie Bird, Stuart Hopps, Clive Elliot) and in NYC with Melissa Hayden, Wilhelm Burmann and at the Erick Hawkins studio. She is the Director of Augere Artists and was the Founder/ Director of Calliope Arts where the current play in production, “Oy Father” was previewed. Calliope Arts is a center offering training in the physical and performing arts with wellness classes, lectures and an arts forum for emerging playwrights, directors, actors and dancers. She also served as Artistic Director of Womanstage, NY; a company advancing women in the arts. Sen has worked internationally as a director, actor, choreographer and dancer performing various roles in Ibsen, Chekhov, the Greek classics and others including J.B. Priestly’s “Dangerous Corner”, Caryl Churchill’s “Vinegar Tom”, as Choreographer and Dancer at The Dance Factory in London, Hecuba in “The Trojan Women”, Nora in “A Doll’s House” and many more. Some notable directorial productions include “Dancing at Lughnasa” at Theater-in-the-Park, NY, the preview of ”Oy Father”, a new musical play currently in production in NYC, ”A Streetcar Named Desire” as a Benefit Performance tor the 9-11 Fund, and (AD) Richard Trent’s film project “The Piano Teacher” Film Export, Prague.

Trent began acting while at University and later trained professionally at NYU School of the Arts – chosen via national auditions by Lloyd Richards, Dean of Yale School of Drama-where he developed his own improvisation revue with Omar Shapli, an original member of the Mike Nichols-Elaine May Second City Company.  While there he worked with a number of Broadway Directors as well as Olympia Dukakis and Jerzy Grotowski of the famed Polish Laboratory Theatre.  He later declined scholarships to both the Acting and Film Divisions of NYU School of the Arts and joined the CSC (Classic Stage Company) Repertory for two seasons.  After being twice a Fulbright Finalist in Acting he trained at the renowned Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England.  Various parts followed ranging from Mercutio to Jerry in “The Zoo Story” which he played in tandem with Malvolio at the Richmond Yorkshire Theatre and at Pentameters in London.  He played the Commandant in “The Camp” which was the British premiere in London.  He appeared in the BBC Masterpiece Theatre series of “Nancy Astor” with Pierce Brosnan and James Fox and starred to much acclaim in the Theatre Clywd (Welsh National Theatre) production of “Play It Again Sam”.  He co-wrote “Distant Star” recorded by Sir Anthony Hopkins for which he won the ASCAP Popular Music Award.  Trent partnered with John McEnery in Woodshed Productions (John noted for his Mercutio in Zeffirelli’s film “Romeo and Juliet” and the title role of “Bartleby” opposite Sir Paul Scofield).  He produced various plays including “Dancing at Lughnasa” at Theater-in-the Park, NY and has written plays to which are attached several multi-international award winners including Oscar nominees, Golden Globe and BAFTA winners.  His feature articles have been published in national and international magazines on a wide range of subjects from Nutrition and Exercise to working with Fellini to a critique of Ken Russell’s “Valentino” starring Nureyev.
